If you’re new here, Welcome! If you’re not new, welcome back! Every year hundreds of photographers around Northeast Ohio eagerly await the blooming of the Cherry Blossom Trees at Brookside Reservation, A Cleveland Metropark in well, Cleveland, Ohio.

I believe it was 4 years ago that I got tired of Photographers bombarding our facebook groups with the same question, “Does anyone know what the Cherry Blossom Trees look like?” I live close enough that I decided to go down daily and update everyone with photos of their progress.

Bloom happens at different times each year, weather plays a major role in that process. Last year we were at full bloom before we even saw any buds this year. We have a few different variety of Japanese Cherry Blossom trees and they bloom a little bit apart from each other. The trees at Brookside Reservation are of the later blooming trees.

As of Friday April 15th, 12pm 2022 the Trees at Brookside are at Full Bloom. Full Bloom according to sources are when 70% of the buds are flowered. That is definitely the case here. The weather plays a big role as to what happens next. Generally you have 3-4 days of beautiful trees after the day of peak bloom. It could be as much as a week after or short as 2 days. We have some rain and wind coming up that could make this years season pretty short.

I am not an Arborist, A meteorologist or a Cherry Blossom Tree expert. I’m just a local Photographer and Leather Crafter who has been tracking the trees for a few years now and reading up on their behavior. It is up to you to use what you know and your best judgment as when to visit them yourselves or when to schedule your photo sessions.

I’m sure it will get quite crowded this weekend being easter weekend but please be respectful of other photographers and people just wanting to go and enjoy them. Remember, it’s free to go there and you’re not the only person in the park. You’re not entitled to anything while there, even if you are charging your clients for Professional photos. Have fun and enjoy yourselves!
